Social networking has become one of the most effective ways to fundraise. Below are helpful instructions to help you use Twitter to promote your Story by Story^® stair climb and raise support for your fundraising campaign.

• Follow Story by Story and inMotion at @inmotioninc on Twitter

• Use the hashtag #storybystory in your own messages about the event and your personal fundraising campaign

• Retweet Story by Story messages to your followers as often as possible

Tweet tips

• Create a Twitter handle (ex: @JaneDoe or @teamjane) for yourself or your team at www.twitter.com

• Follow business contacts, friends and family on Twitter

• Use Twitter directories to help you collect followers listed by interests and industries. Expanding your network by using these tools provides you with more visibility and gives you greater opportunity of raising money for your team:

• Use www.twitpic,com to share photos and videos of yourself and/or your team

Send your followers the link to your personal fundraising page or a specific page on the Story by Story web site

You will need to create a short version of the web site address as it appears in your browser:

• Use www.bitly.com to create short URL addresses

• If you created a "Personal Web Page Link" (a short, personalized URL address) for your fundraising page when you registered, you can use this "user-friendly URL" in your tweets

Send a tweet from MY HQ

Use the Twitter feature in MY HQ to automatically update your Twitter status and to send a shortened link to your personal fundraising page. To use this feature, you must allow the FeedRaiser application and the OAuthNet authenticaion application to access your Twitter account. This initial authentication takes place the first time that you access Twitter from MY HQ.

You must make sure that the login information which you provide for Twitter through OAuthNet is valid, otherwise your status will not be updated.

In order for your friends and colleagues to receive the tweets, they too must be signed up with Twitter.

The Twitter feature within MY HQ conforms to text message length requirements. You can compose text messages that contain up to 140 characters.

• Log into "MY HQ"

• Click on the "Email" tab

• Click on the "Twitter" breadcrumb link located below the "MY HQ" tab menu

• A FeedRaiser pop-up window will appear
  

  FeedRaiser is an application which connects MY HQ and your Twitter account so that you can easily update your status and share the link to your fundraising page directly from MY HQ on the Story by Story web site. To enable this feature, you must allow permission for FeedRaiser to update your Twitter status

• Click the "Get the Permission" button

• An OAuthNet pop-up window will appear, fill in your Twitter username and password. Click the "Authorize app" button. This will complete the authentication process and allow the Story by Story event to update your Twitter status

• Note that the OAuthNet application will not be able to access your direct messages or see your Twitter password. You can revoke access to this, and any other application, at any time from within the "Applications" tab on your Twitter account "Settings" page

• Once you have completed the authorization process by enabling the OAuthNet app, a FeedRaiser pop-up box will appear with a sample message and a shortened link to your personal fundraising page

• Compose your message (up to 140 characters) and click the "Update your Status" button to send your tweet

Remember to include a shortened URL link to your personal fundraising page in your tweets!
